Widespread rain-wind/thunderstorm (with isolated heavyfalls/hailstorm) Predicted in coming days

Met office predicted that a westerly wave is likely to approach southwestern parts of Balochistan on 01st April and likely to persist till 04th April. Under the influence of this weather system:

  • Balochistan: Rain-wind/thunderstorm (with isolated heavy falls/hailstorm) is expected in Panjgur, Turbat, Kech, Awaran, Makran Coast (Gawadar, Pasni, Ormara) Lasbella, Khuzdar, Kharan, Chaghi, Dalbandin, Kalat, Sibbi, Kohlu, Barkhan, Naseerabad, Quetta, Loralai, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Noushki, Harnai, Zhob, Kalat, Mastung from 01st (evening) to 04th April with occasional gaps.
  • Kyber Pakhtunkhwa: Rain-wind/thunderstorm (snowfall over mountains) is expected in (Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Shangla, Buner, Kohistan, Malakand, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Balakot, Haripur, Mardan, Nowshera, Peshawar, Kurram, Swabi, Charsadda, Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Dera Ismail Khan and Waziristan) from 01st (night) to 04th April. Heavy falls/Hailstorm is also likely at isolated places during the period.
  • Punjab/Islamabad:  Rain-wind/thunderstorm (with isolated hailstorm) is expected in Murree, Galiyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sargodha, Mianwali, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Khushab, Jhang, Noorpurthal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Pakpattan, Okara, Kasur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Kot Addu, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan from 01st (night) to 04th April with occasional gaps. Heavy falls is also likely in Dera Ghazi Khan and surroundings during the period.  
  • Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir:  Rain-wind/thunderstorm (snowfall over the mountains) is expected in (Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Guanche, Shigar), Kashmir (Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur) from 01st (night) to 04th April with occasional gaps. Hailstorm/ heavyfall is likely at isolated places in Kashmir during the period.
  • Sindh Rain-wind/thunderstorm (with isolated hailstorm) is expected in Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Dadu, Kashmore, Jacobabad, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad and Tharparkar from 02nd to 04th April with occasional gaps.

 

Possible Impacts and advises:

  • Landslides may occur in vulnerable areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during the period.
  • Due to heavy rains Flash flood is expected in northeast Balochistan (Khuzdar, Awaran, Kharan, Kalat, Mastung, Kohlu, Lasbela, Zhob, Qilla Saifullah, Qilla Abullah, Sherani), Hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan while in local stream and nullahs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Khurram, Khyber, Mohmand, Bajaur, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Kohistan, Chitral) from 02nd to 04th April.
  • Windstorm/ hailstorm and lightning may damage weak structures (electric poles, bill boards, solar panels etc) during the forecast period.
  • Hailstorm/windstorm may damage standing crops in Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh. Farmers are advised to manage their crops according to the prevailing weather conditions.
  • Tourists and travellers are advised to remain extra cautious and avoid unnecessary travelling during the forecast period.
  • Day time temperatures are likely to decrease during the forecast period.

 

Weather system is likely to continue after 04th April. An update will be issued according.
